Explore Big Reds & Bubbles seasonal wine picks for holiday celebrations!

You bring a wine and Geekdom will provide the food! If you’ll be attending the mixer, you’re tasked with selecting a wine according to the guidelines outlined in our article Selecting the Best Wine for Your Budget. The price range for wines for this event is $15 to $20.

RSVP at the Eventbrite link to be included in a drawing for prizes.

The flavor profiles in the Wine Pairing Guide below will help you in making a selection. Once you read the article, you’ll understand the meaning of our mnemonic device “Location, Location, Location” in helping you make a quality selection. The challenge is to avoid wines with only state or country sourcing (i.e. California, Texas, Washington, Oregon or France, Spain, Italy) and to find a wine with at least an AVA or appellation. Our goal is to show you how to determine quality vs. price. This will empower you to find a great bottle at any price range with amazing frequency of success.

The format will be a sip and graze walk around tasting. We highly suggest serving yourself no more than 1 – 1.5 ounces of any single wine in order to experience new varietals or regions that you may not have previously encountered. Remember that a single serving of wine is usually 4 to 5 ounces. So 1 ounce of 8 to 10 wines would be 2 full servings. As wine is best enjoyed with food, there will be charcuterie and light finger foods provided.
